Instruction for Filling Online Application
General Instruction

Total seats in every department will be divided into two broad categories

  1. 60% seats will be for the students of the Vidyasagar University – Category I
  2. 40% seats will be for Open Competition – Category II
  3. Each Applicant (Category- I or II) shall have to go through an Admission test of 50 Marks
  4. CATEGORY I : HOME UNIVERSITY (V.U.) SEATS (60%) – (Selection to be made on the basis of marks obtained in the Hons. Subject and marks obtained in the entrance test, 80% of Hons Marks + 20% of marks obtained in entrance test) ## Only students passing out of Vidyasagar University may opt for it.
  5. CATEGORY II : OPEN COMPETITION SEATS (40%) – (Selection on the basis of marks obtained in the Entrance Test only)

    Students of other Universities who have appeared in the Final (Part - III) Honours Examination but whose results are yet to be published may apply. However, at the time of admission, if selected, they have to produce the Final (Part - III) Honours Examination, failing which their candidature will be rejected.

  6. When your form is submitted successfully go to the Payment section to pay the Application Fee of Rs. 300/- (excluding Bank Charges) by Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card or by Bank Challan. (After payment wait for at least 48 hours for confirmation of Payment by an SMS)
  7. V.U. students can apply for both Category I & Category II
  8. Other University students can apply for Category II only

Instruction

  1. Application for Admission into PG programmes should be made online.
  2. Only Candidates completing regular 3-yr. Hons. Degree in 2017 & 2016 are eligible to apply. Students of other Universities who have appeared in the Final (Part - III) Honours Examination but whose results are yet to be published may apply.
  3. Fill in all the boxes in block letters. Do not leave any (*) marked box empty.
  4. Please upload Scanned copies of Photo, Signature in JPEG format (Photo & Signature: 5 KB – 80 KB (each))
  5. Please verify information before clicking the SUBMIT button.
  6. Now take a PRINTOUT of the form for presentation during Counselling. DO NOT SUBMIT ANY HARD COPY..
  7. When your form is submitted successfully go to the Payment section to pay the Application Fee of Rs. 300/- (excluding Bank Charges) by Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card or by Bank Challan (SBI).
    (After payment wait for at least 48 hours for confirmation of Payment by an SMS).
  8. A form would be treated as VALID only if application fees are paid in the due process.
  9. There is no need to submit Hard Copy of Application Forms.
  10. Application form, incomplete in any respect, is liable to be cancelled.

Selection Process

  • 60% seats in every department will be for the students of the Vidyasagar University and
  • Remaining 40% seats will be for other Open Competition.
  • CATEGORY  I : HOME UNIVERSITY (V.U.) SEATS (60%) - Only students passing out of Vidyasagar University may opt for it. (Selection to be made only on the basis of marks obtained in the Hons.   • CATEGORY II : OPEN COMPETITION SEATS (40%) – Students passing out of any University, including V.U., may opt for it. (Selection on the basis of marks obtained in the Entrance Test)
    Students of other Universities who have appeared in the Final (Part - III) Honours Examination but whose results are yet to be published may apply. However, at the time of admission, if selected, they have to produce the Marsheet of Final (Part - III) Honours Examination, failing which their candidature will be rejected.
  • This 60% and 40% may be relaxed in case of non-availability of the applicants in either category.
  • Quota for SC/ ST/OBC will be considered as per Govt. order. Number of seats will be calculated and considered separately for 60% seats of V.U. students and 40% seats for Open Competition. Fraction of 0.5% or more will be rounded to the next whole number.
  • 3% of the total seats in each category (GEN/SC/ST/OBC) will be reserved for Persons With Disability (PWD) . Merit list will be prepared on the percentage of Disability. In case of non-availability of PWD, the seats reserved for PWD will be converted to normal seats of the respective Categories.
The minimum marks for appearing at Entrance Test is as follows:
M.A./M.Com : 45% marks in respective Hons. subject (for Gen. Candidates)
40% marks in respective Hons. subject (for SC / ST./OBC/PWD Candidates)
M.Sc. : 50% marks in respective Hons. subject (for Gen. Candidates)
45% marks in respective Hons. subject (for SC / ST/OBC/PWD Candidates)
**All the applicant must appear at the Entrance Test & they have to secure the minimum marks as specified above.

**Questions of the Entrance Test will be objective pattern; Full Marks- 50; Total no. of Questions-25 & each being of 2 (two) marks, Time- Two hour.

All Application should be made online. After online submission of forms, candidates must take a PRINTOUT of the Application. Step by Step Application Procedure is detailed below (Read these carefully before you proceed):


Step – I : Have these ready –

  1. Scanned Copy of Photo (Size 05-80 kB in JPG / JPEG Format)
  2. Scanned Copy of Signature (Size 05-80 kB in JPG / JPEG Format)

Step – II : Click

Your basic information will be automatically transferred to Application format.

Step - III : Choose your Subject & Application category, provide University details.

  • VU Students choose BOTH CATEGORIES - I & II or CATEGORY - I or CATEGORY - II
  • Other University Students select CATEGORY - II

Step – IV : Upload your scan copies of Photo & Signature

Step – V :Click on

Step – VI : Fill up the details carefully. Then Click on

A message would come - "Your Form has been Successfully Submitted" and you will receive an SMS

Step - VII : Please Note down your Form Number. Now take the Printout by clicking PRINT button.

Step – VIII : Click on You will be taken to the State Bank of India website in a new tab/window

Complete the process of Payment – by Debit card/ Credit card/ Net Banking / Bank Challan (Take a Print)

 

On completion of application process Click <LOG OUT>

Submit the Fee at any SBI branch (if paying through Bank Challan)

Your payment will be validated through an SMS within 48 Hrs.
